Cart Lodge Shop & Café
Our fabulous shop and café are nestled in the restored 18th-century Cart Lodge. Browse our bespoke items, beautiful books, prints, cards, jewellery, ceramics and gifts and discover contemporary artists and craftsmen. Join us for special teas and coffees, and a slice of delicious locally-made cake or quiche. Entrance to the Cart Lodge is free. If you’re out in the Downs and need a pit stop, or meeting up with friends and family, or walking the dog (we’re dog friendly!), the Cart Lodge Café is the perfect place to stop and rest.
Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft is proud to support Folkington’s, Tea Pigs and The Cake Time Bakery – all local suppliers. The crockery used in our cafe was created exclusively for Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft by The Big Tomato Company and designed by Phil Baines. Where possible, we have worked with British designers and makers who showcase the continued tradition of craftsmanship in this country. Our cutlery is a design classic by Robert Welch, and our tables, chairs and stools are designed by Another Country, who specialise in contemporary craft furniture made in the UK. We would like to thank Robert Welch and The Big Tomato Company for their generous donations.
All the profits from the shop and café directly support the charitable aims of Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft.
To celebrate the outstanding foresight and generosity of our founders, Joanna and Hilary Bourne, Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft has commissioned a limited-edition silkscreen print by artist Alice Pattullo. Available to buy from the museum shop, by phone on 01273 844744 or online for £100 (unframed) or £195 (framed – with a choice of oak, black or white frame and the option for your print to be mounted or float mounted).
